Pronounced “men-so-ray”, Mensore Girl is an adventure through Japanese and Okinawan recipes and culture that highlights what makes both of these cultures unique.
“Mensore” means welcome in Uchinaaguchi (Okinawan language) and symbolizes a big part of me.
With my ancestry mixed with both Southern Japan and Okinawa, I want to get in touch with both sides to truly understand the culture that is me. And thus, Mensore Girl was born.
Mensore Girl was a website that came as an idea when I used to have my old website, thenakachanlife.com. After participating in the OAA Bazaar on Oct 2014, I realized how out of touch I was with my ancestral roots, and decided to create this to raise awareness and connect. It’s time to turn a new leaf and represent! 🙂
A college student, foodie, blogger, bballer, and an aspiring teacher, I want to expand my horizons and learn new things. Besides, food is awesome and the essence of life (in my opinion), so why not delve into it and celebrate how evolutionary it has been?
Take this journey with me and learn the culture of both Okinawa and Japan through Mensore Girl. And please don’t hesitate to contact me via Facebook or through email (firstname.lastname@example.org)! 🙂 I would love your feedback and would really appreciate all the support~
So… めんそーれ！Mensore! (Welcome!)
